In 1967, he transferred to the experimental department of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., which had merged, and in 1970, he completed a round trip of about 10,000 kilometers from Detroit to the West Coast and back for an AT test. The outward journey included traversing 3,800 km of the then-active Route 66, from Chicago to Santa Monica. In 1972, he moved to Nissan’s Overseas Service Division, where he was involved in management guidance for overseas dealers and tuning of KD (knocked-down) vehicles. From 1986 to 1997, he transferred to the overseas business division of Calsonic (now Calsonic Kansei), working on the development of overseas bases in the Australia-Asia region. He was stationed in Singapore from 1986 to 1989. He is currently a member of RJC (Research Journalist Conference of Japan) and SAH (The Society of Automotive Historians, Inc.) in the United States. He began collecting global automotive catalogs in 1954 and continues to do so.
